One More Milestone

In a year of firsts, we celebrated another milestone.  On December 5th, 2003 (ten years ago), an anonymous family made the difficult decision to donate their loved one's pancreas to Mommy.  We don't know them except for the fact that it was a Florida woman about Mommy's age.  During a tremendously sad time they made a very generous caring gift.  The pancreas transplant cured Mommy's type I diabetes.  The disease had already taken her eyesight, kidneys and was starting to cause other issues.  We believe this transplant helped save her life.

It is amazing how fast time flies.  The older we get, the more milestones we reach.  Next year we will have a few more, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.  A little hint is they have to do with birthdays!

In this year of firsts without our sweet Rudy, we also need to remember these important dates in our lives.  They are the challenges, the opportunities, and the events that determine our paths in life.

As a young yellow lab, I can't help but wonder if this is the coldest December on record.  I'm only 4, but I've never known temperatures this low.  My poor paws are freezing!  More snuggle time for me!

Love,
Boomer the Mellow Yellow Lab
